At NeoSmile Dental Care, we like to keep things nice and simple when it comes to dental insurance. We’re in-network providers with the vast majority of PPO plans, meaning we’ll not only accept your policy, but we’ll also be able to maximize your benefits. Below, we’ve included a quick and easy guide on how to best use your insurance so you can take care of your teeth and keep as much money in your pocket as possible.
Similar to health insurance, dental insurance works by having someone pay a monthly premium in order to gain access to discounts on a wide variety of services. Most plans also have what is called an annual maximum, which is the highest dollar amount it will pay for care in a year. This can range from $1,000-$1,500 depending on your plan. If you do not reach this maximum by the time the year ends, any remaining money will not rollover and will be lost, so it’s important to work with your dental team to make sure you’re using every dollar you can and aren’t leaving money on the table.
Every dental insurance plan is slightly different, but most are designed to primarily help a patient afford preventive services like checkups, cleanings, fluoride treatments, and dental sealants. This is why these services are typically covered 80-100%. Meanwhile, treatments like fillings, crowns, and bridges are only covered 45-75%, while cosmetic services often don’t receive any coverage at all.
So, if you’re looking to get the most out of your plan, the key is to focus on prevention. Regular checkups and cleanings will cost you little to nothing out of pocket, and they’ll also lower your chances of needing more involved services that get less coverage, making this an effective approach for both your oral health and wallet.
As we touched on above, NeoSmile Dental Care is an in-network provider for the majority of PPO dental insurance plans. However, we are happy to accept out-of-network plans as well. Unlike with health insurance, visiting an out-of-network dentist doesn’t always mean you’ll be paying a lot more. If you don’t see your plan on the list below, go ahead and give us a call so we can show you how we could use it to help you save.
